One of the standout offerings at Cositas Ricas is their legendary molcajetes, a traditional Mexican dish served in a stone mortar that encapsulates the essence of flavor and texture. The Molcajete Veracruzano is a must-try, featuring a sumptuous blend of steak, chicken, shrimp, cactus, cheese, avocado, and spicy Mexican sausage, all bathed in a zesty salsa verde. Equally enticing is the Molcajete Cositas Ricas, a seafood lover's dream that includes shrimp, green mussels, clams, octopus, cactus, and cheese, drizzled with a robust salsa roja. For a refreshing twist, try the Molcajete Aguachile, where succulent shrimp and clams mingle with cucumber, pico de gallo, and avocado—all served cold. As I reflect on my experience at Cositas Ricas, I can’t help but feel a sense of warmth that permeates the establishment. It’s not just the food; it’s the passion behind each dish that makes it truly special. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this restaurant stands out as the closest thing to real Mexican fare you’ll find on the East Coast. Be sure to drop by and savor the delightful offerings that promise to transport your palate straight to Mexico. I will certainly be returning for more delicious experiences!
Another great place in Wallingford. Really a small little shop, the counter service was friendly and helpful. The food was great. Had the enchiladas with chicken, a few tacos, and the chicharones preparado. All tasted great. Food came out .
Probably the best Mexican restaurant in Wallingford. I got the spicy pork burrito, steak nachos, and the chicken enchiladas with green salsa. All the proteins had an excellent cook and the food was, overall, seasoned and very flavorful. I ordered lunch and my food was ready in about 15 minutes. I don't recommend ordering nachos for take-out because the chips get soggy, but these nachos did well in the container. The burrito was spot-on, delicious with excellent ratios of beans, rice, proteins, and the fixings. If you're looking for a new mexican spot in wallingford, give this place a try!! Highly recomend!!
Excellent food, quick and friendly service, very tasteful. The fruit juice was amazing and completely natural. Spicy was mild but excellent for my taste.
Found this place while traveling through. This place is the closest to real Mexican food that I've found on the east coast. I ordered the Tostada de Tinga and the Asada Tacos. Both were a amazing. I also got a horchata that was amazing. I highly recommend this place. I will definitely be frequenting it during my travels.
The best Mexican food I have had since I was in Mexico! This place has truly authentic Mexican food, it’s delicious! The service is friendly the restaurant is clean, I will most definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for some great Mexican fare! I will be back!
There are a few spots in Connecticut who still cook authentic Mexican food from the heart. ( just like mom’s) yes! I went that far as comparing this to your abuelas or mom’s food . Great staff the food is amazing! Flavorful, authentic, filling. You can get fresh fruit and other Mexican antojitos ( little snacks)it’s has always been a great meal.
The atmosphere is pleasant, the waiter is friendly but the food... is the most authentic my palate has ever had the pleasure of experiencing. The flavors just phenomenal and fresh! Homemade nachos in freshly made guacamole , tacos are freshly made as well as all the ingredients, including fresh Oaxaca Mexican string cheese! He even made my fried platanos to my liking! Even the coke bottles were from Mexico!! I can return soon enough to have this experience once again !! I don’t give five stars lightly so know this is the most authentic and delicious Mexican food in the state, hands down! Sit back and let yourself have this experience! Five stars hands down!
Although I have yet to try their food, I went in for a smoothie and a mangonada and they were pretty good. The smoothies are just natural frozen fruit and water but it was refreshing. The customer service was pretty good and the restaurant is very nice inside.
